The 1999 Rugby World Cup was held in Britain,Ireland and France during the months of October and November. Wales were officially designated the role of hosts and the opening match and the final were held in the brand new Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. Twickenham hosted the semi finals however and witnessed tow excellent matches. Australia downed South Africa with a long range drop goal in extra time while France defeated New Zealand in one of the best rugby matches ever. Australia went on to lift the trophy in the final.
