The 1991 Rugby World Cup was the second edition of the Rugby World Cup, and jointly hosted by England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and France; at that time, the five European countries that participated in the Five Nations Championship.
The pool games were played in all five countries with each of the home nations enjoying home advantage. Ireland and Scotland, however, shared a pool and their game was played in Murrayfield.
